Mini Australis Review - Velourlips Matte Lip Cream

Big W recently had $3 off all Australis products so I grabbed a few new things to try.

The Lip Treatment Trio is great, an exfoliator, balm and gloss which has a teensy hint of colour.

I haven't tried the mascara yet but I have been using the Tint My Brows. I was hoping for a dupe of the benefit one but no such luck. It's a mini tube but still a full size spooly which makes it a bit messy to apply. The colour is good in the tube but it randomly applies really dark, almost black. Weird.

Ok lets talk about the much hyped Australis Velourlips Matte Lip Creams. I'm still not sure about them. I love the colour payoff and how easy they are to apply but they stay tacky and others have said that they are budgeproof but I find they smear really easily. Still going to keep using them though. Oh and the smell is delicious! Like grape Hubba Bubba.

Lastly I got a new do. Wasn't planning on going lighter but my hairdresser likes to do her own thing. I do like it though luckily!

Life

Why hello there, long time no see!

Now that my boys are a little older I am getting back into fashion and beauty albeit on a budget.

Those that follow me on Instagram would have seen most of these pictures before, those that don't - why not?!

Have had a haircut.

Before:

After:

Not a drastic change but it's nice to get my hair off my neck. It has also faded a lot and is more of a light golden blonde. Will have to put my purple shampoo to good use.

Splurged on some new makeup. I used to use MAC Studio Fix Fluid but stopped because it's expensive. I have to say I am so glad to be using it again!

I had my nails done for the first time in years and decided to try out stiletto nails.

I really love them so might keep them for a while.

That's about it from me. Hopefully I'll be back to blogging more often again and I can try to sort out a mirror so I can do some outfit snaps again.

Kmart

I feel like every outfit post of late has included at least one item from Kmart. I just can't help it, the prices are so good! And you can't not love the new tv ads, BOM BOM BOM!! Seriously they should be sponsoring me haha! I kid I kid.

My purchases from today! The flannelette sheets feel ok quality but most of all I love the pattern and I love how the fitted sheet and top sheet pattern is inverted. I have been looking for a white stapler and hole punch for ages to match the rest of my desk accessories, so happy to find them in Kmart. The kids socks are $4 for 4 pairs, I have bought them for the boys in other colours before and they wear well.

I had a long overdue cut and colour a few days ago.

I had a few more outfits this week that I forgot to take photos of, which is something I never do. The first one I was in a hurry to get out of the house so totally forgot. Stopped at a cafe for morning tea and M spilt hubbies coffee all down the front of me. Luckily it wasn't hot enough to burn me or him, but my clothes were a mess. We were on our way to a party so I had to do a quick shop for a new outfit (love that excuse) and ended up getting something quite cute. I meant to take a photo when we got home and promptly forgot again. The mirror has now been moved out of the bathroom so I'm not sure how I will manage outfit photos anymore, will have to sort something out.
A new haircut requires maintenance. So far this is living up to the hype.

Saw a $5 sign out the front of Cotton On so made a beeline for the jeans.

Have been wanting the polka dot ones since they came out a few months ago. Very happy with this $20 purchase.

Hammer Time

A few outfits from the past week that I haven't had time to blog about until now!

Top: Valley Girl, Pants: Ally, Sandals: Pulp, Necklace: Kmart

Top: Kmart, Jeans: Target (have a really subtle leopard print!), Heels: Target

Top: Valley Girl, Skirt: Country Road, Sandals: Pulp, Necklace: Diva

I've been a bit disappointed with this Country Road skirt. I thought it would have been quite versatile but I'm struggling to find tops to go with it.

Lips: Revlon Lip Butter in Sweet Tart

My hair is looking pretty drab at the moment. I'm trying to grow it out until my sister in laws wedding then after that I'll get a pretty big chop. In the meantime I decided to DIY ombre in an attempt to blend my roots a bit without causing any more damage.

Goldwell Colorance Mousse in 6N Dark Blonde

I'm really quite happy with the result! Will only last a few washes but makes it look shinier and healthier. I usually tend to go a bit darker in the Winter and this is a really easy at home colour. No ammonia or bleach = no damage! And only temporary so if you don't like it, it washes out after a few weeks.

Only 2 more posts to 100! And only one more follower to 30!

Cushions and Toast

Just bought a couple of little things yesterday. Was so glad we decided to go to the shops as the temperature hit 46 degrees! Was still 44 degrees at 5pm.

Country Road Mini Stripe Skirt

I've probably mentioned here before how much I hate paying full price for anything, especially from Country Road and Witchery. But this skirt caught my eye and it just drapes so nicely, I'm sure on a cost per wear basis I will get my money's worth!

Of course buying a new rug meant buying new cushions too!

I've heard good reviews on the Target dry shampoo. At $2 a can it's a bargain - with 30% off totalling $1.40, it's be crazy to not get 2 cans right? They also had dry conditioner that is supposed to add shine, so I got one of those to try too.

My baby boy had his first vegemite soldiers this morning, almost polished them off!

So glad for the cool change today, I have so much tidying and washing to do. These 2 boys are like cyclones!

Neon

Went to a new hairdresser today, very happy with the results! It's actually the same salon that did my wedding hair, not sure why I ever changed to begin with?

OOTD: 6th May 2012

Headed out for brekkie this morning for my mother in laws birthday, now back home taking it easy for the rest of the day :)

Top - Cotton On, Maternity Jeans - ASOS, Boots - Target, Necklace - Big W

Close up of my hair cut:

Not really happy with it, I feel like she hacked at it. I think I need it thinned out at the bottom a bit. Might give it a few weeks and see if it grows on me.

A Cut and a Rant

I had my hair cut today, I decided to bite the bullet and go back to my regular hairdresser. No photos yet because they did a terrible blow dry job so I will have to wash it and dry it again before I post a pic.

After today I have decided to find a new hairdresser. I have had the same hairdresser for 6 years. She is quite well known and travels a lot for fashion week. I gave them one last shot to get things right. My haircut took 2 hours. TWO HOURS!!! Actually, my haircut took 5 minutes, all the bullsh*t surrounding the haircut is what took so long. Mainly just waiting and waiting for someone to actually do something. For the first time I felt like I was unimportant because it was just a cut.

Does anyone else not like the scalp massages? I used to get my scalp bleached and was always horrified when I was then given a head massage. I sure love being super dizzy with a burning scalp and then have you pour hot water on AND rub your fingers into my tender scalp!!! Today there was no scalp bleaching but I had the weirdest experience - I'm talking big man fingers all over my cheeks, forehead, eyebrows and eyelids, basically all over my face! I was so paranoid about my make up being so totally smooshed!! It was so strange and I was too embarrassed to say anything.

Needless to say I was almost crying when I walked out - the worst part is that I had to pay for the experience, and a small fortune at that!

To Lob or Not to Lob

So inspired by the lovely Reezy at peanut butter & honey I've decided to cut my hair again.

I had it cut from bum length to a lob (long bob) just after my first son was born and now that I'm almost due with my second I'm getting the itch to cut it again.

My current hair length

I'm thinking something along the lines of these:

So my question is, seeing as though it's a pretty straightforward cut ie; not too many layers or a fringe/bangs or anything like that, would you assume that it's ok to go somewhere more affordable like Just Cuts to have this done? I have a hairdresser that I have been to for the last 6 years and just recently decided to colour it myself instead to save some cash (thanks to some help from some lovely Vogue forum ladies) and I'm very pleased with the result! So should I trust a 'cheaper' hairdresser to cut it also? Rather than paying more than triple just because I've been going to the same place for so long?? Anyone had a similar experience?
