Raaarrr!!!

So today was party day! And now I am exhausted! As per usual I have hardly any photos because I was too busy setting up and chatting. Managed to take a few quick outfit photos when we got home.
Dress: Witchery, Necklace: Diva, Sandals: Witchery, Ring: Lovisa

The cakes went down well although overall I was disappointed with them. The cupcakes ended up being a rush job but turned out ok. They were chocolate with a cookies and cream icing and a whole Oreo baked into the base.
The dinosaur cake was a hit but melted a fair bit. I didn't get a good photo of it today but I took some as I was making it.
About to go in the oven
Freshly baked
 Carved
 Finished!

Can't wait to crawl into bed now!

The Big Three Oh

My husband turned 30 last week so I did the wifely duty and cooked him breakfast, choc chip pancakes with maple syrup, strawberries and blueberries yum!

So I took this photo halfway through cooking with all intentions of taking more once it was cooked and plated, unfortunately for me (and hubby) I burnt the crap out of it and it fell apart haha oh well he appreciated the effort!
Also made him a birthday cake, this turned out much better! Will also be making him another cake for the party we're having next weekend but I can't decide what to make. The weather forecast of 40 degrees is not helping matters!

Ladybird

A friend of mine had her daughters' 1st birthday party over the weekend and I volunteered to do the cake. I always had birthday cakes out of the AWW birthday cake book so I wanted to make something along the same lines. I went for the 'Lazy Lady Beetle' cake. The cake is the standard butter cake recipe from the back of the book, I did it pink and purple marbled, but I forgot to take a photo! It looked pretty cool though.

I had a lot of fun making this cake!

Better Late Than Never

I finally made some Anzac biscuits! It was a last minute decision so I didn't have a few of the ingredients. I substituted the golden syrup for agave because that's all I had. This obviously altered the flavour a fair bit as the golden syrup is a vital ingredient but oh well! Next time I'll be more prepared!

They taste ok, nothing special.
I really miss baking, don't have as much time or energy these days to bake as much as I used to.
Will have to make a conscious effort to try harder!
